Sergeant Adam S. Gage, 28, passed away on March 18, 2009, while on active duty with the United States Army in Georgia. He was born on July 18, 1980, in Orange, Texas, to Earl and Sue Gage. He was a graduate of Little Cypress Mauriceville High School, attended college for one year at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA, and then joined the United States Army on April 25, 2001.

He completed Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and began his Advanced Individual Training at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, on July 6, 200l. He received special training at the Explosive Ordinance Disposal School at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida from October 12, 2001, to April 3, 2002. He was deployed to Iraq from January 27, 2003, to July 5, 2003. His second deployment was to Kuwait from August 1, 2004 to July 3, 2005. His third deployment was to Afghanistan with the 24th Ordinance Company from February 23, 2007, to May 23, 2008. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 206th Quartermaster Battalion (PS) since December 9, 2008.

His Army awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), the Army Achievement Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation.

Adam was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He will be missed by his family, the U. S. Army and his friends. In addition to his parents and numerous friends and colleagues, he is survived by his wife, Casey E. Gage; son, Alexander, age eight; and daughter, Grace, age 5; and two brothers, Dr. Earl Gage and wife, Lynelle, of Ohio, and Neal Herrington and wife, Carey, of Baytown.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 28, 2009, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1010 Birdsong Drive, Baytown. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Bishop Cleon Carraway officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Houston National Cemetery in Houston.
