The funeral for Hal Eugene Bailey, 68, of Athens will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Sardis Springs Baptist Church with Tim Keenum and the Rev. Jack Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Limestone Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Bailey was born June 25, 1940 in Limestone County to Eugene L. Bailey and Naola Blackburn Bailey.

He worked in the maintenance field for Industrial Properties, South.

Mr. Bailey was a member of Sardis Springs Baptist Church and was a deacon and a past chairman of deacons. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Gudrun Bailey of Athens; mother, Naola B. Bailey; son, Henry E. Bailey and wife LeeAnn of Athens; daughter, Tina B. Barbre and husband Jeff of Athens; brothers, John D. Bailey of Athens, and the Rev. Jack Bailey of Danville; sisters, June Daphney Jones, Joy Brewer, Beth Pressnell and Holly Roberts, all of Athens; grandchildren, Alex Barbre, Nick Barbre, Aimee Bailey and Anna Bailey.

Pallbearers will be Lawrence Holt, Jerry Newby, Lynn Haynes, Billy Underwood, Tony McCormick and Joe Bailey.

The Sunday school class of Sardis Springs Baptist Church will be honorary pallbearers.
