Thank you for the transfer from member Jeanette Getting.

This is my great aunt Cora. She was my grandpa's sister. She was one of 10 children of parents who came here from Switzerland. She was born here, but 3 siblings were born in Switzerland, near Bern. The family spoke German. Before she left Illinois, Aunt Cora was a teacher. I have several of her school books she used in the one room school she attended as a child. The name of the school was "Bell Top," and my mother and grandfather attended there as well. It was located less than a mile from the family homestead.

After she married, she left Illinois and lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her husband was Frank E. Winne, and their children's names were Grant, Raymond and Pauline.

I know that once she moved to Colorado, she didn't come back to Illinois except for about once a year. She is absent from many family photos. They wrote often, and her sisters always kept her letters.

Several family members from here did go to Colorado to visit over the years. One of her sisters went to Colorado to visit her while she was on her honeymoon with her new husband. They took the train and stayed a month.

Rest in peace Aunt Cora.
