Married 1855 in Pocopson Twp, Chester County PA his first wife Elizabeth Barnard (1830-1856), daughter of noted Abolitionists Eusebius (1802-1865)& Sarah (Painter) Barnard. Had a daughter Laer. Note: Elizabeth was President Abraham Lincoln's Fourth Cousin, they shared 3rd Great Grandfather Richard Barnard, a Quaker arriving from England @1682 and settling in Chester County PA.
