Inez Goodson passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 in Portland, Texas. She was 96. Inez was born June 9, 1915 to Walter H. Hart and Mary Belle Hart in Johnson County, Texas. Inez was a longtime resident of Freer where she was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was known far and wide for her cooking skills. Her husband claimed 'she was the best cook in Duval County.' Three hot meals a day with desserts for lunch and dinner were the norm. Cobblers and German Chocolate cakes were her specialties.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Elda Guy 'E. G.' Goodson, her son, Tommy G. Goodson, also by her sons-in-law, Jimmy Burdine, David Long and by N.M. Goodwin.

Survivors include three daughters, Alla Ray Goodwin, Patsy Burdine and Jo (Hershall) Hutcheson; seven grandchildren, Tommy Long, Penny Whited, Martha Chapman, Carol Acker, Glenn Burdine, Cindy Johnson, and Donna Andrews; sixteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

The family expresses their deepest gratitude to Dr. Lee Sang and Trisun Pavilion Assisted Living for the compassionate care of their mother.

Graveside services were conducted 3:00 p.m., Monday, November 21, 2011 in Roselawn Memorial Park in Alice
