Married Mary Blaikley Swann on Oct. 12, 1785 in Cumberland County, VA.

In 1775, Thomas Mortimer Hubbard enlisted for one year in the Virginia militia and served at Williamsburg in the 1st Virginia Regiment that was commanded by Col. Patrick Henry. He later enlisted for three years and continued to serve in various Virginia militia regiments during the Revolutionary War until 1781.

In the early 1800s, the Thomas Mortimer Hubbard Family left Bedford County, VA for Rutherford County, TN. In 1818, they arrived in Alabama Territory and became pioneering settlers of Morgan County, AL.

Thomas's wife Mary was visiting her daughter,Catherine Hubbard Morris, in Walker County, AL when she died. The local tradition is that Mary Blakely Swann Hubbard was the first person buried in the Morris Cemetery. Thomas Mortimer Hubbard died at his home in Morgan County, AL and was buried beside his wife in the Morris Cemetery.
