He was engaged in fighting the Indians at Fort Greenville and Fort Recovery during the War of 1812.After the war was one of the first families to settle in Harrison Twp.,near what is now the town of Euphemia,in Preble County ,Ohio.After his marriage in 1815 to Mary M. Lock,John settled in Harrison Twp.,along the dry fork of Twin Creek.
