"Jennie" was born in Indiana to John Clark Peden and Cynthia E. Mathes. She grew up with her six sisters, Virginia, Julia, Mary "Alice", Lucy Ellen, Clarissa "Clara" and Emma Peden.
After her mother died she and several sisters went to live with their grandparents, Joseph Peden and Lucinda Clark.
Her father then moved to KY. taking Emma with him. He remarried to Anna Catherine Beuhler in about 1875. Six children were born to this union, Joseph Clark, John H., Rudolph, Samuel, Elizabeth and Gladys Peden.
Jennie, married Franklin E. Allen in Salina, KS. in 1890. Six children were born to this union, Raymond b. Oct. 1891, Walter b. Jan. 1893, Roger b. 1896, Everett b. 1899, Pearl b. 1901 and Edna Marie Allen b. 1903.
