OBITUARY - In Memoriam - With sad hearts we are called upon to chronicle the death of Grandfather R.R. Albritton, which sad event occurred on the 18th inst. Grandfather lacked a fraction of attaining the age of 74, during which time the majority was spent as a laborer in the Master's vineyard. He served his beloved "Dixie" with fidelity on the field of war. He toiled twenty-five years as an officer of his adopted state....R. Lee Moak

27 Sept 1861
Richard R. Albritton enlisted 27 Sept 1861 at Shieldsboro. He was a private with Company B of the 7th Mississippi Regiment.

Sept. 14, 1862
He was severely wounded with a musket ball to the right thigh at Munfordville, Kentucky on Sept. 14, 1862.

He was captured at Cave City, Kentucky and then exchanged for a Union soldier. He was then shipped to Vicksburg on 12 Nov 1862.

He was discharged 16 July 1864 to Camp Douglas.

His place of residence given as Boque Chitto, Pike County, Mississippi.
