Review Atlas --- July 26, 1878Samuel Hallam, an old settler of this township, died at his residence in this city last Saturday, in the 71st year of his age. He came to this county in 1850 and settled on a farm about three miles east of Monmouth, where he resided until within a few years, when he moved to the city, and retired from active business pursuits. For a long time he had been afflicted with rheumatism, which confined him to his bed and rendered him helpless... after which theremains were taken in charge by the Masonic Fraternity and buried with Masonic honors. Samuel died on July 20th, at 70 years and 5 months. He is buried in the Monmouth Cemetery.
