Mrs. Emma J. Boring, wife of H. Lloyd Boring, 1--- 10th St., expired suddenly at her home yesterday morning [June 29, 1916] about 8:45 o'clock. Death was due to heart failure and her lifeless body was found on a rear porch by W.A. Nude, driver for Martin & Amp; Co., feed dealers, who was delivering an order.
Mrs. Boring had visited the Hartswick grocery store nearby but a short time before her death and was apparently in excellent health. Nude discovered her lying against a refrigerator and Police Surgeon Carl Metzgar was summoned. He declared the woman's death due to heart trouble. Coroner W.T. Blackburn was notified, but decided an inquest unnecessary.
Mrs. Boring was the daughter of John and Mary Smiley, both deceased, and was born Dec. 12, 1862, in Huntingdon Co. She was wedded to Mr. Boring about 34 years ago and they resided in this city more than 30 years.
Her husband survives with one son, Thomas J., this city, and 3 brothers: John, David and Bert Smiley, in western states, and 3 sisters: Mrs. Albert Deisbaugh and Mrs. Edward Gates, this city and Mrs. Harvey Burris, of Mifflintown. 3 grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Boring was a member of the First Presbyterian church, Isabelle Lodge, No. 145, Daughters of Rebekah and Camp No. 49, P.O. of A.
Funeral services will be held at her late home Sat. afternoon at 2 o'clock, followed by burial in Rose Hill cemetery.
