Max L. Phillips February 8, 1927 - March 24, 2009 Max L. Phillips, 82, of Howard, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Susque-View Nursing Home. He was born on Feb. 8, 1972, a son of the late, Clyde and Lula Phillips. On Jan. 30, 1950, he married Martha J. Bechdel, who died on March 12, 1991. Max was a heavy equipment operator for many years as a member of Local 66 Engineers Union. He was a member of The Howard V.F.W. and The Beech Creek American Legion. He enjoyed working on his machinery and equipment. Surviving are one daughter, Sharon L. Masters, of Beech Creek; one son, Randall E. (Lenore), of Mill Hall; three granddaughters, Jody Masters, Linn Watkins, and Nicole Shuster; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Charles Phillips (Jane), of Marsh Creek. In addition to his parents and wife, he is predeceased by three sisters, Hazel, Frances, and Irene; and one brother, Ray. Visitation will be Thursday, March 26, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kader-Neff Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 135 W. Main St., Howard. Funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Schencks Cemetery, Howard Township, at the convineince of the family.
