Paul Elmer Burckhardt, 83, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2009.
Beloved husband of 57 years to Irma Coplin Burckhardt; loving father of Patricia B. Greenwalt and her husband Warren; grandfather to Ryan Abeln and his wife Kathy, Chad Abeln, Travis Abeln, Andrew Greenwalt, Paula G. Cuadrado and her husband Joseph, Tricia Greenwalt and Benjamin Greenwalt; great-grandfather to Joey Abeln and Matthew Abeln. He was also a beloved brother-in-law, uncle and cousin.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Lynn Abeln; his mother, Edna Marie Schulze Burckhardt; and his father, Edwin Burckhardt.

A native of St. Louis and a resident of Covington for the past four years, Burckhardt was a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II.
Graveside services with military honors were held Monday at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis.
