Callie 'Corene' Bennett, age 92, of Elkhart, Texas died March 23, 2009, at Greenbrier Nursing Home in Palestine, Texas. Burial in Pilgrim Cemetery was under the direction of Bailey and Foster Funeral Home, Palestine. She was born June 21, 1916 in Grapeland, Texas to the late Robert L. and Norene Ursprung Chapman. Mrs. Bennett was a homemaker snf a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldridge Bennett; sons, Clyde Gary Bennett, and Larry Eldridge Bennett; brothers, Leon Chapman, Wayne Chapman, and Morris Chapman. She is survived by daughters, Glenda Brimberry and husband Lewis, Norma Murray and husband George; son, William Robert "Billy" Bennett and wife Sharon; daughter-in-law, Mildred Bennett; brother, Alton Sterling Chapman; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Gary V. Murray, Doug Murray, Gary Bennett, Howard Jemison, Brent Brimberry, Randy Brimberry, Ty Bennett, and Gary Pruiett.
