The youngest of seven children, she was born Sept. 19, 1915, in Portland, ND to Olaus and Claudine (Evenson) Aasen.
She attended and graduated from Portland High School and Mayville State Teachers College in Mayville, ND.
She taught school in Suea School District for a few years before marrying Olaf Olson on May 29, 1939.
They farmed in North Dakota for a period of years, before moving to Wenatchee in 1955. She was a homemaker and worked at various jobs throughout the Wenatchee Valley. They moved briefly to Warm Beach, before returning to settle in the Sunnyslope area.
She enjoyed many activities including handwork, crafts, and cooking for her family and friends. She also loved camping and playing Uno.
She was a member of the Wenatchee Free Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and enjoyed her ladies Bible Study group.
She is survived by two sons, Dale Olson and his wife, Joan and Ralph Olson and his wife, Anita, all of Wenatchee; a daughter, Gloria Bland and her husband, Arthur of East Wenatchee; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Esther Aasen of East Wenatchee and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Olaf, one son, Kenneth Olson and six brothers, Wilhelm, Oliver, Gerhard, Harold, Erling and Philip.
"She was and always will be a light in our lives and will be greatly missed."
A Memorial Service will be held at the Eastmont Community Church on Saturday, June 9, 2001, at 11 a.m. Private inurnment will follow at a later date.
