Elmira Jane Miller was the youngest child of Nathan Miller and Mary Ann Elmira Stultz (also known in various records as Elmira Ann, or Mary Ann, or Mary, or Myra). Elmira's older brother Nathan Z. Miller was the paternal grandfather of my maternal grandmother. Elmira is listed as Elmira Miller or Elmira J. Miller along with her parents and siblings in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 U.S. Censuses, all three of which indicate that she was born circa 1853 (age 7 in 1860, 17 in 1870, and 27 in 1880). She does not appear after the 1800 census, since she died in the 1890s. Some numbers of her gravemarker inscription are difficult to make out -- the inscription gives her date of death as 5 Feb. 1891 (though the "1" is unclear) and her age at death as 25 ??) ys. 9 Mo. 15 D. However, the census indicates that she would have been about 38 when she died.
