William M. Hormell, 68, of 51 Murray Ave., Uniontown who was superintendent of grounds and buildings at California State College, died in Uniontown Hospital yesterday. Mr. Hormell, a son of the late Nathan C. and Mary White Hormell, was a member of United Christian Church, Jr. Order of Mechanics (O.U.A.M.), Col. A. L. Hawkins Council Society of Institutional Engineers and Hungry Club, all of California. Surviving are his widow, Alma Heinztleman Hormell; a son, Atty. Oliver N. Hormell of California; one daughter, Mrs. Robert L. (Dolores) Lasher of Erie; six grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Hutson of Oakmont; one brother, Bert of California. His first wife, Martha Johnson Hormell, died in 1965. A son, Joseph Glenn, died in 1954. Friends are being received at the Edward E. Minerd Funeral Home, 196 West Main St., Uniontown, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 2 and until 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, the time of service. The Rev. Norman C. Hunt and Dr. Earl P. Confer will officiate. Interment, Highland Cemetery in California, Pa. Edward E. Minerd Funeral Home in charge.

The son of the late Nathaniel C. and Mary White Hormell, he was employed as a superintendent of grounds and buildings at California State Teachers College. He was a member of the First Christian Church of California; the Jr. O.U.A.M., Col. A.L. Hawkings Council of California the Society of Institutional Engineers; and the Hungry Club. Surviving are his wife, Alma Heinztleman Hormell; two children Attorney Oliver N. Hormell of California and Mrs. Robert L (Dolores) Lasher of Erie: six grandchildren, Robert L. Lasher, Jr. William Lasher, Scott Lasher, Brian Lasher; J. W. Hormell, and Johnson Grant Hormell; a sister Mrs. Robert (Ruth Hutson of Oakmont; a brother, Bert Hormell, of California, Pa.; and also surviving are Mrs. Donald (Pardee) Adams of Rockville, Md., William Kuhns and Mrs. Lewis (Shirley) Salzman both of Milford, Conn. He was preceded in death by his first wife Martha Johnson Hormell in 1966 and a son, Joseph Glenn in 1954. Friends will be received in Edward E. Minerd Funeral Home, 196 W. Main St. today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday until 1 p.m., the hour of service with Rev. Norman C. Hunt and Dr. Earl -P. Confer officiating.
