Arden ~ Robert Lee Ducker, 87, of Sleepy Gap Road, Arden, died on Monday, April 21, 2008 at the VA Medical Center in Asheville. He was born in Richmond, VA on February 22, 1921 and was the son of the late Solon Byron Ducker and Edna Davis Ducker. He was preceded in death by a brother, Solon Ducker.

Robert served thirteen years in the US Army during WW II and was a member of the 13th Infantry Regiment Association. He was an employee of the Savannah River Nuclear Plant, where he was a member of the National Asbestos Workers Union. He is survived by three daughters, Brenda Bledsoe, Donna Ledford and Beverly Haines; a son, Bobby Ducker all of Arden; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Grace Scruggs , Inez Owen and Betty Lytle and husband Earl all of Arden; former wife and friend Frances Alexander of Arden.

A graveside service will be held 12:00 noon on Thursday in Roberts Memorial Park with the Rev. Donald Hare officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road.
