Michael, the son of Stephen Rodowicz and Hazel M. Rodowicz, of Chester PA, enlisted in the US Marine Corps on February 16, 1968 in Philadelphia PA. He arrived in Vietnam on August 24, and was assigned to Company K, 3d Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st MARDIV (Rein) FMF.
Supporting the ARVN and USA as a security and screening element on their northern flanks during movement to the area of operations the Marine security force north of Nghi Son village complex in Que Son District encountered several enemy snipers. The hostile fire wounded three Marines who were quickly evacuated. Evacuated to the Station Hospital NSA in Da Nang, LCpl Rodowicz died as a result of the hostile rifle wounds he had sustained.
