Obitiuary~~
Westport - Arthur G. Manchester, 78, died at home Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, after a long illness. He was the husband of Rose (Carvalho) Manchester. They were married 57 years.
Born in Westport, he was the son of George D. and Olive L. (Devoll) Manchester. He was a lifelong Westport resident and a carpenter/mason and self-employed contractor.
He was a World War II Army veteran and a former member of the Westport Board of Health.
He enjoyed boxing and baseball and various other sporting events.
Survivors include his widow; two sons; a daughter; three brothers, Milton Manchester of Ossipee, N. H., and Carlton Manchester and Kenneth Manchester, both of Westport; three sisters; seven grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Susanne M. Nolet, who died Sept 14, 2000, and the brother of the late George Manchester, Albert Manchester, and his twin brother, Alfred Manchester.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Friday from the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road.
