From the newspaper obituary, published in the Morning Advocate on Jan. 2, 1987:

"John Maxwell May died at 6:30 A.M. Wed., Dec. 31, 1986. He was 69, a native of McComb, Ms. and resident of Baton Rouge. He was a retired Gulf States Utilities Co. supervisor and a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East 11000 Florida Blvd., 9 A.M. until religious services on Fri. at noon on Jan. 2, 1987. Services conducted by the Rev. Perry Webb Jr. Burial in Roselawn Memorial Park. Survived by his wife, Milda Sartin May; two brothers, Talmadge Kenneth May, Davenport, Fla. and Douglas Holcombe May, New Orleans; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Evelyn S. Tyler and Stanley Tyler, Baton Rouge.Preceded in death by parents, John and Georgia Callender May; and two brothers Ralph Wesley May and Carl Absolem May. John Maxwell May was a member of Gulf States Retirees Club, First Baptist Church, Fellowship Bible Class, American Legion Nicholson Post No. 38, Istrouma Masonic Lodge No. 414, Shriners, Royal Arch Masons Istrouma Chapter No 92, and the 32nd degree Mason Baton Rouge Consistory of Louisiana."

Uncle Max had no children.
