EZRA M. CONKLIN was born in Westfield Township, Morrow, then Delaware, County, Ohio, August 21, 1824,and was the second son and third child of Jacob Conklin, born in St.Alburgs Township, Grand Isles County, Vt., June 10, 1787.
Jacob Conklin came to Liberty Township, Delaware County. OH, mar'd Orra Payne, born July 6, 1798, in New Hartford, Litchfield Co., Conn. They then moved to their future home in Westfield Twp in April 1821 where they resided till their death. Ezra remained on the home farm during his minority and married, Feb 28,1847, to Clarissa C., dau of Samuel and Cherrissa (Wilcox) Hull, who were among the early settlers of Waldo Township. To this union there were born 5 children, 2 of which died young. Their children were: Orra C., June 17, 1849; William P., July 17, 1851; Clarissa O., January 10, 1854.
Clarissa died March 14, 1859 and Ezra 2nd mar'd December 11, 1859 to Amanda E. Winegarner. By this marriage there were 8 children, 3 dying in infancy. The remaining 5 were: Mary E., born April 18, 1802; Charles F., born June 13, 1863; Emma L., born November 27,1864; Benjamin F., born March 17, 1866; and Myrta Al., born Feb 25,1868.
Mr. Conklin served as Township Trustee several terms and was a member of the IOOF.Lodge, No. 588, at Waldo; a member of the Baptist Church since 1852, and has been a Deacon in the same for many years. His farm consisted of 1261 acres.
