Marshall T. Collier, 85, died Monday, January 24, 1977. Funeral services will be at Stensel Funeral Home with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery.

He was born December 3, 1891 at Pontiac, s/o George Collier (1858-1939) and Sarah Gilmore Collier. He married Daisy Tucker January 28, 1917 in Farmer City. She died June 28, 1971. Surviving are a son, Richard of Farmer City; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Eckert, Barrington; a brother, Arnold of Pinellas Park FL; and four grandchildren. An infant son also preceded him in death.

He was a WW I veteran; life member of the American Legion and the Farmer City Chamber of Commerce; 59-year member of the Masonic Lodge and member of the United Methodist Church. He was instrumental in building several residential and business buildings and service station in Farmer City and in nearby towns.

He became affiliated with his father's hardware store after his graduation from high school. The store was opened by his father in 1905 in Farmer City. In 1960 his son, Richard, took over ownership of the store but the elder Mr. Collier continued to work there.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
