Impressive Service for Beloved Woman
The funeral service for the late Mrs. Daisy Dean Lewis, whose untimely death occurred on Wednesday, Nov. 24, was held at the Methodist Episcopal church at 3:30 o'clock. There was a very large attendance of the friends and acquaintances of the bereaved family, evidencing the esteem in which the deceased was regard in this community.
Rev. W. W. Shenk, who conducted the service, paid a high tribute to the character of Mrs. Lewis, who, the speaker said, was "a ray of sunshine where ever she went." A faithful and loving wife and daughter, she enriched the lives of others by her unpretentious service.
Mrs. Lewis was the eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. David Devore and was born Nov. 1, 1883 at the 66 Ranch on Mineral Creek, Pinal county. The family soon afterward moved to this county and have resided here ever since - for many years at Wheatfields and the remainder of the time in Globe. Her marriage to Wilber Lewis took place July 26, 1904, and the union was a most happy one. Besides her grief stricken husband and parents, there live to mourn her loss one sister, Mrs. Jennie Alberthal, of Globe; and three brothers: Robert Devore of Miami, Alfred Devore who lives at Cherry Creek, David Devore, Jr., of Payson, and Willie Devore who is with his parents in Globe.
Mrs. P.L. Bootz contributed effectively to the service by singing two beautiful and appropriate selections. The handsome casket was covered with floral offerings from many sympathizing friends. Interment was in the Globe Cemetery, where the impressive ceremony was concluded.
