Mrs. Louie "Aunt Lou" McCray, 86, of Headwaters died Tuesday morning in King's Daughters' Hospital in Staunton. She had been hospitalized with a fractured hip since Sept. 11. Mrs. McCray was born April 25, 1880, near Doe Hill, a daughter of the late William and Susan Botkin Armstrong. She was a member of Headwaters Presbyterian Church. Her husband, O. Reese McCray, died July 4, 1953. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Charles Phillips of Greenbrier, Tenn., Mrs. Gilbert Botkin of Falls Church, Mrs. O. C. Hicklin and Mrs. Benny Ralston, both of McDowell; four sons, Porter McCray of Millboro, Leo McCray of McDowell, Peyton McCray and Earl McCray, both of Headwaters; a sister, Mrs. Dora Malcom of McDowell; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-granchchildren. A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in Obaugh Fruneral Home, conducted by the Rev. Jack Maxwell and the Rev. Earl Hammer, with burial in Headwaters Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Eddie Ragland, John Chapman, Brack Splaun, Randall Roberts, Ralph Gutshall, Ronnie white, Elmo Varner and Stanley Mitchell.
