Services Held for Hollenback in Washtucna

WASHTUCNA - Funeral services for Fred Melvin Hollenback, 75, farmer and worker in the Washtucna community for the last 18 years, were held Tuesday at the Washtucna Community church with the Rev. William Woodworth officiating.

Interment was at the Washtucna cemetery. Pallbearers were John Gray, Joe Gray, Ralph Goldsmith, Ralph Gillis, Fred Beckner and K. L. Day.

Hollenback died Saturday at the Adams County Memorial hospital.

He was born on March 21, 1885, in Wymore, Neb. On Dec. 15, 1909, he married Jennie Louise Roth at Arlington, Neb. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last year.

The couple moved to Spokane in 1923 and for the last 18 years have made their home in Washtucna.

In 1953, Hollenback became a member of the Washtucna Community church.

He also was a member of the Neighborhood Grange at Mica.

He is survived by his wife, Jennie, at the home in Washtucna; three daughers, Mrs. James Howard and Mrs. Nathan Longfield, both of Spokane, and Mrs. John Kuster of Washtucna; four sons, Mark of Spokane and Melvin, Orville and Thomas of Washtucna; two brothers, Carl of Monteray, Calif., and Paul of Spokane; one sister, Mrs. Lillian Smith of Seattle; 20 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
