A native of Cleveland County, he was the principle of Villa Heights Academic Center in Charlotte. He was a member of Rudisill Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.
Survivors include mother, Willie Mae Aiken of Cherryville; father and stepmother, James Edward Aiken Sr., and Roberta Aiken of Charlotte; brother, Brian Aiken of the home; sister, Gail Gibbs of Hickory; stepbrothers, Kenneth Robinson and Tenny Robinson of Charlotte; stepsisters, Gwendolyn Clifton, Jennifer McNair, Sharon Robinson, all of Charlotte, and Tamie McKenzie of Dorthan, Ala.; grandmother, Vertie Mae Rankin of Charlotte and a number of extended family members.
The family will be at the home of his mother, 722 S. Mountain St., Cherryville, NC.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Cherryville. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rudisill Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, P.O. Box 575, Cherryville, NC 28021.
