Ruth A. McVeen, 53, of Elyria died Monday at Oakridge Nursing Home in Westlake after a long illness. Mrs. McVeen lived in Elyria for most of her life and was a graduate of the M. B. Johnson School of Nursing.
She was formerly employed as a registered nurse at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria.
Mrs. McVeen was a member of College Heights Baptist Church in Elyria.
She also was a member of the Elyria Order of the Eastern Star and the Lorain County Nurses Society.
She enjoyed reading and classical music.
Survivors include her son, David Costin of Elyria; a daughter, Elizabeth McVeen of Lakewood, stepsons Michael McVeen of Massillon, Timothy McVeen of Vista, Calif., Howard "Skip" McVeen of Euclid, Richard McVeen of Syracus, N.Y., and Dennis McVeen of Florida; a step-daughter, Susan Loudin of Grafton, and a brother, Donald W. Law of Findlay.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester H.; and her parents, David R. and Dorothea (nee Snyder) Law.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Busch-Curtis-Scheuffler Family Chapel, 114 Second St., Elyria, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
William Campbell, lay speaker at Oakridge Nursing Home in Westlake, will officiate.
Interment will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
