447th Antiaircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion. Attached to the 28th Infantry Division for much of World War II, the 447th AAA was one of the antiaircraft units assigned to protect the Omaha Beach landings on D-Day. Later, the unit fought in the Hurtgen Forest and tangled with German ground forces during the opening days of the Battle of the Bulge.
