David George Shriver, 47, died after a brief illness on Monday, March 2, 2009 in Savannah, GA. David was born on July 15, 1961, in Raleigh, NC, son of George Shriver and Donna Newcomer Jones.
When he was four years old, David announced cheerfully at church that his favorite Bible verse was "Be Ye Friendly." David lived his life according to that philosophy, showing unconditional interest in everyone he met. He was a kind and wholehearted friend, fundamentally incapable of distinguishing people on the basis of race, age, religion, wealth, or abilities.
David was a graduate of Statesboro High School and he attended Georgia Southern University and Armstrong Atlantic State University, where he was employed as a proud member of the University System of Georgia.
Survivors include his father, George Shriver, mother, Donna Newcomer Jones, step-mother, Cathy Shriver, step-father, Warren "Spike" Jones, three sisters, Rebecca Marie Davis, Bonnie Leigh Spiers, and Laurie Lynn Robert, two brothers-in-law, Richard Spiers and Roy Robert, nephew, Matthew Spiers, former brother-in-law, Eschol Lee Davis, Jr., his cat, Caramel, and countless friends.
David's family will share a private memorial service to celebrate David's life. If desired, contributions may be made to Armstrong Atlantic State University Foundation in memory of David Shriver, 11935 Abercorn St. Savannah, GA 31419, where a bench will be donated to commemorate his life.

Joiner Anderson Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
