Mr. Wingender worked for the former Baldwin-Lima Hamilton Company for 25 years before joining the Budd Company of Philadelphia for 10 years.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served as a coxswain with the 4th Naval Construction Battalion.
He was a member of the VFW Charles Buddy Lewis Post 5343 of the Villas and the Villas fishing club.
A native of Philadelphia, he lived in the Hunting Park section of that city before retiring to the Villas in 1979.
Surviving are his wife, Doris (nee Baldwin); two sons, Carl of Glenburne, Md., and James of Clearwater, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated noon Tuesday at St. Raymond's Roman Catholic Church, Bayshore Road, Villas.
Burial will be private at the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery under the direction of the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd., North Cape May.
