1st Lieutenant Eugene H. Shavitch was a member of Regimental Headquarters (HQ HQ) Company, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division.

He jumped into Normandy at about 0130 hours on D-Day, June 6, 1944. He was killed in action that same day.
