Charley Russell married Sadie Carver Feb. 21, 1912 in Fredonia, Ks. Born to them were 6 children, 3 boys & 3 girls. He had lived all his life in Wilson County. He died at the Wilson Co. Hospital in Neodesha, of an injury from a fall at his home the previous day.
He received his 8th. grade education at Maple Grove School in Wilson Co. Kansas. He was a farmer and stockman N.E. of Altoona until his retirement.
He is survived by his widow of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Laverna Barnett of Wichita; three sons, Harold E. Russell and Earl Dale Russell, both of Wichita, and Floyd A. Russell of rural Altoona; a brother; Ralph F. Russell of rural Altoona; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Edith Mae Russell in 1922 and Mrs. Dorothy Lou DeShaiser in 1968.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Altoona. A memorial Fund has been established in his memory for the United Methodist Church of Altoona in care of the Cason-Knickerbocker Funeral Home, Fredonia.
Funeral services were held in the United Methodist Church of Altoona Saturday at 2 P.M. Interment was at the Altoona cemetery.
