Sarah C. Torbert, daughter of Adkins and Susan Torbert, was born in Tennessee December 26, 1852, and passed away July 10, 1939, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Claude Chipp, in Albany, Mo., at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 10 days.

She was united in marriage August 28, 1874, to John B. Whiteley and to this union four daughters were born, namely - Mrs. Will Pratt and Mrs. Claude Chipp, both of Albany; Mrs. Maggie Wayman and Miss Ora Whiteley preceded her in death several years ago. Her companion passed away March 11th, 1934, and since that time she had made her home in Albany.

She leaves to mourn her death, besides her daughters and a host of friends, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren; also three sisters, Mrs. Lou Peters, Washington; Mrs. Susan Hartley, Gentryville; Miss Ada Torbert, Albany. Five brothers preceded her in death.
She was converted in early life and united with the New Castle Church. She later united with the New Hampton Methodist Church and remained a faithful member up to the time of her death.

Funeral services were held at the New Hampton Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 and burial was in the Foster cemetery under the direction of the Yaple-Bare Funeral Home.
