G. L. and Minerva became the parents of six children: Lizzie, born July 4, 1868, who died two days later; Walter Lester, John A., George Louis, Ethel A., and Frank R.
G. L. Edwards played a prominent role in the history of Cumberland. He was a county supervisor and also served as mayor of Cumberland. The Edwards' were active members of the First Baptist Church where G. L. served on the board for many years.
Minerva died June 15, 1910. Later, G. L. married Mrs. Hattie Whitney. They built the house just north of the Cumberland Schoolhouse in 1922. G. L. died May 28, 1927. Minerva and G. L. are buried in the Evergreen Cemetery near Cumberland.
Amos Edwards, father of G. L. Edwards, was born July 26, 1808. Several years after the death of his wife, Nancy Hash Edwards, he came to Edna Township from Illinois to make his home with his sons. He died August 12, 1876 and is buried in the Reno Cemetery.
