He lived in Bay County, Fla., for the past 52 years. Born in Chattanooga, Tenn., in 1916, Cliff was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps from April 1934 to 1936. He entered his military career in 1940 and served in the European Theatre from 1942 to 1944 (Berlin Airlift). During his military career, Cliff received the following military decorations and awards: Distinguished Unit Citation with three Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal with one Silver Loop, American Defense Service Medal, America Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Silver Service Stars, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Germany with the Berlin Airlift Device Medal for Humane Action, National Defense Service Medal and Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with four Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters.
He was an avid golfer and loved the outdoors.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Geneva of Lynn Haven, Fla.; two daughters, Vicki Ferrell (Martin) of Lynn Haven and Judy Hamm of Lynn Haven; three grandchildren, Clifford Cagle, Michelle Ferrell and Michael Ferrell; and seven great-grandchildren, Eva, Sam, Eamon, Tres, Bailey, Tyler and Dorothy.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, in the chapel of Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Virgil Tillman officiating. Prior to services, the family will receive friends from noon until service time at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with U.S. Air Force honors at graveside.
