Allan Gustave Lund, age 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 16, 2009.

Born November 9, 1925 in Salt Lake City to Halvor F. and Verda Robins Lund, Allan was an only boy who was much beloved by his three sisters and prized by his mother.

He served overseas in the U.S. Army from age 18 until the conclusion of World War II. Upon his return to Salt Lake, he soon met and courted the love of his life, Arden Lou Hunt. They were married on May 5, 1949 and over their 60 year marriage exemplified true and abiding love. Allan was a faithful member of the Garden Park Ward of the LDS Church.

Allan's working career began at age 14 at a gas station and continued uninterrupted for over 60 years.

He was an excellent provider who carried double workloads for nearly two decades without even the smallest complaint. He especially enjoyed his time and the friends he made at Utah/American Oil Company, where he worked for over 20 years.

In 2000, he retired from IHC as the Director of Grounds for Primary Children's Medical Center, where he excelled at creating a garden refuge for patients and their families.

Allan continued to own and run The Consignment Company in The Avenues, where he came to treasure the friendships he made more than his merchandise. This hard-working man will always be remembered by those who knew him best as a fun and kind-hearted friend who always chose love for his family over ease, self-interest, or worldly status.

He had an artist's eye for recognizing beauty- in the canyons, his gardens, in art and decor, and most significantly in those who were dear to him.

Allan is survived by his devoted Louli, his loving children, Jeffrey Allan, Thomas A. and Gretchen, Jonathan R. and Rae Ann, Elizabeth A. and Todd Stevens, Matthew H. and Barbara; 19 beloved and wonderful grandchildren, and three bright-eyed great-granddaughters; his dear sisters, Phylis (and Lee) Steorts, Pat Davis, and Bobbie Bartonius; Lou's sister Honey and her husband, Edward Campos and many esteemed nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Buela B. and E. Arden Hunt; and brothers-in-law, Clif Davis and Rai Bartonius.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 12:00 noon in the Garden Park Ward Chapel, 1150 East Yale Avenue. Friends may call on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Street, and on Saturday from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the Ward Chapel.
Interment: Kaysville City Cemetery.
