NORTH OGDEN – Marell B. Nicholls, 83, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009, of natural causes. He was born December 28, 1925 in Randolph, Utah, the son of Oscar James Nicholls and Irene Brough. He married Marva L. Friedli, November 1, 1950 in the Logan Temple, they were later divorced. He married Patricia Janel Bush Whetton on May 1, 1981 in Ogden, Utah. She passed on September 23, 2001 in Ogden.

"Bud" lived his entire life in the Ogden area. He served in the Navy during World War II as a seaman first class aboard the USS Miami in the Asiatic Pacific. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. He also enjoyed landscaping and gardening. Bud was an active LDS church member; he did sealing work in the Ogden Temple and was a service missionary at the LDS conference center. He was a life long custom home builder, where he made many friends and touched many hearts.

He is survived by his children, Sherry (Miles) Crabtree, Val (Deborah) Nicholls, Michael (Julie) Nicholls, Janice (Harvey) Lansing, LuAnn (Boyd) Hansen, Robin (Paul) Dunn, Tracy (Becky) Nicholls and Troy (Kat) Nicholls. He was a step-father to Patricia's children Mike (Jana) Whetton, Kathy (Chad) Maddox, Troy (Janet) Whetton and Brent (Jennifer) Whetton. He has 38 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. His brother Curtis J. Nicholls and a sister Norma Loveland.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 16, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden. Friends may call on Sunday, March 15th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Interment at the Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden.
