Funeral services for Larry Burns, age 59, of Miller Grove will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 15, 2008 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Darty officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be at Miller Grove Cemetery with Roy King, Rodney Lennon, Larry Lennon, Ernie Weaver, Tommy Potts and Woody Garmon serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Stribling, Jim Fitzwater, Vernon Miller and the Miller Grove Class of 1967. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2008 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Mr. Burns passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Burns was born on June 21, 1949 in Sulphur Springs, TX, the son of Frank Moody and Edith Venable Burns.
He married Charlotte Stribling on June 22, 1968 in Princeton, TX. She survives. Mr. Burns was a self employed dairyman for over 15 years and a member of County Line Baptist Church of Miller Grove. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict.
Other survivors include one daughter, Ashlee Burns, father, Frank M. Burns and step-mother, Gladis Burns, granddaughter, Kiley Peterson, son-in-law Chandon Peterson all of Miller Grove, step-sisters, Cathy Nordin of Sulphur Springs and Martha Payne of Rockwall, brother and sister-in laws, David and Debra Stribling of Reilly Springs and Gary and Vicky Stribling of Sulphur Springs, along with numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Burns Deaton. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to County Line Baptist church.
