Daniel H. Drake Sr., 88, of 254 Mud Creek Road, Kennedy, formerly of 416 Falconer St., and Brookville, Fla., died at 11:53 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, in the WCA Hospital.
A Florida resident from January 1983 to January 2005, and a Jamestown resident for many years, he was born May 17, 1920, in New York City, the son of the Rev. Frederick D. and Helen Ziese Drake.
Mr. Drake was a high school graduate in Rochester, N.Y., and was the manager of Mushroom Transportation Co. for 38 years, retiring in December 1982.
He was a member of Zion Tabernacle Church and a member of the Jamestown Area Transportation Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie (James) Barton of Kennedy; three sons: Daniel H. (Bonnie) Drake Jr of Jamestown, Ronald L. (Deborah) Drake of Jamestown, and Robert E. (Sarah) Drake of West Ellicott; 14 grandchildren: Michael (Patti) Calimeri and Sally (Dana) Overend, all of Falconer, Sebastian ''Busti'' (Lori Crowell) Calimeri, and Yvonne (Cliff) Green, both of Kennedy, Benjamin C. (Karen) Drake, Julie E. (Chris) Morano, Jeffrey R. Drake and Tamara (Greg) DeLong, all of Jamestown, Katie Francis and Jonathan Drake, both of West Ellicott, Leslie A. (Chris) Charles of Lakewood, Jessica Drake of Pennsylvania, Deborah (Ledley) Ogden of Orchard Park and Terri (Joe) Cali of Ashville; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, the Rev. David (Sandy) Drake of Springfield, Mo.
Mr. Drake was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret V. Hoover Drake, whom he married May 30, 1941, and who died May 25, 2005; his daughter, JoAnn Parham; and two sisters: Faith Peterson and Esther Oclassen.
