John "Jack" Mickelson, 84, of Eau Claire died Sunday, March 15, 2009.
He was born in Cadott on March 7, 1925, the son of John and Doris (Johnson) Mickelson. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Jack married Marion Doris Johnson on March 6, 1948, in La Crosse. She preceded Jack in death on Sept. 12, 2003. Jack was a tire inspector at Uniroyal Goodrich for 40 years. Jack enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and playing smear. He loved working with wood after he retired. Jack also liked old-time country music.
Survivors include his children, David (Peggy) Mickelson and Diane Mickelson, all of Eau Claire, and Vicki (Cyrus) Hemmati of Minneapolis; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence "Bub" (Beatty) Mickelson of Cadott and Alvin Mickelson of Chippewa Falls.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Edward and Clarence.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at Hope Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, with the Rev. Randy Olson officiating. Spring interment will be at Copps Cemetery, township of Anson, Chippewa County, with full military honors. Family and friends may call an hour before services at the church.
The family would like to thank the staff of Syverson Lutheran Home and Community Health Partnership for their tender loving care.
The Cremation Society of Wisconsin is serving the family.
