Army Cpl. Moore was assigned to the 978th Military Police Company, 93rd Military Police Battalion, Fort Bliss, Texas. He died of wounds sustained when an explosive device struck his vehicle. Gary was a 2003 graduate of Westmoore High School in south Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where he ran track and cross country. For awhile after graduation, he worked as a security guard at several businesses but in January 2007, he decided to join the Army. He was deployed to Iraq in June 2008 to help provide training and oversight of the Iraqi police force and his awards include the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Purple Heart, which was awarded posthumously. He loved life, making people laugh, video games, the Olive Garden, playing football and volleyball, and movies. Oh, how he loved movies - he could sit and comment through an entire movie. Gary loved serving his country and being an MP but he was looking forward to returning home to be with the love of his life, his fiancée Randi Ivie.
