BROOKLYN — Harley Melvin Rule, 92, passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, surrounded by his family.
He was born April 24, 1915, in Adrian to Levi and Emma Rule. On Oct. 30, 1936, he married Viola Stock and she passed away in February of 2003.
Harley worked as a maintenance man for Gene Olson Corp. and Bank of Lenawee. He moved from Adrian to Cement City in 1956, then to Little Stoney Lake in Brooklyn where he enjoyed his fishing, flower gardening and crafts.
Harley is survived by his two children, Robert Harley Rule of Adrian and Patricia J. Holbrook of Brooklyn; his grandchildren, Timothy (Lucy) Rule of Adrian, Todd Rule of Toledo, Robert (Annie) Holbrook of Clayton, Rodney Holbrook of Manitou Beach, Sean (Lana) Holbrook of Onsted; his 10 great-grandchildren, Hope Rule, Hollie Rule, Samantha, Andrew and Cameron Holbrook, Brett Negus, Mindy Anderson, Christopher, Sierra and Dakota Holbrook, and two great-great grandchildren. Harley is also survived by his sister, Bertha Kerr of Indiana, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his siblings, Arthur, Delbert, Mary and Marion, and his daughter-in-law, Marjorie Rule.
Funeral services for Harley will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the Wagley Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Reitz officiating. Burial will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park in Adrian. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wagley Funeral Home.
