The Norman Transcript. (Norman, Okla.), Thursday, May 12, 1904
Mr. J.G. Morehead, father of Mrs. Geo. Hazel, died at his residence in East Norman on Sunday afternoon May 8, 1904, of pneumonia and congestion of the liver, aged 55 years. Mr. and Mrs. Morehead recently came here from Cook county, Tex., and had purchased property intending to reside permanently. He was a noble Christian gentleman, highly respected, and his wife and family have the deepest sympathy of the community.
His family consists of the widow and five children, all grown, viz: Mrs. C. St. John, of Geary, O.T., Mrs. Miller, of Cook county, Mr. Enoch Morehead, Mrs. Mazel and another son living in this county. All the children were present at the time of his death, which was peaceful and painless. Mrs. Morehead is prostrated and in a precarious condition.
The funeral was held Monday, Rev. W.R. Smith, of the M.E. church officiating, burial being made in Odd Fellows’ cemetery.

J.G. Morehead, aged 55 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. G.L. Hazel, in East Norman Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock of pneumonia. The deceased moved here from Texas about two months ago and purchased property in Norman. Soon after arriving he took down with the grip. He has been a member of the M.E. Church South for 39 years. The funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the M.E. Church South, conducted by Rev. Smith. The body was interred at the Odd Fellows’ Cemetery. A wife and five children survive him.
