Irvin Runyon Akers, 85, of Rt. 1, Dublin died Thursday morning in the Radford Community Hospital, Radford. Born Oct. 30, 1899 in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late Clarence Akers & Ina Runyon Akers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Morehead Akers. He was a life long member of the Mt. View United Methodist Church and a retired employee for the Appalachian Power Company. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ernes (Mary) Button Jr., Dublin; two sons, George C. Akers, Dublin, Irvin Akers, Severn, MD, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Mt. View United Methodist Church, Dublin with the Rev. Ann Blair and the Rev. Charles Lockerby officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. View United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the Bower Funeral Chapel, Dublin or anytime at the home of the daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Button Jr., Rt. 1, Dublin. Bower Funeral Chapel, Dublin is handling the arrangements.
