On December 7, 1869 in Putnam County, Indiana, Andrew married Nancy "Mannie" Talbott. Three children: Tolbert, Derwood and Daisy were born to the couple.
His wife died shortly after 1880, and on June 16, 1883 Andrew married Miss Sarah E. Talbott, a younger sister of his deceased wife.

A. R. Alison Dies
Word has been received here of the death of a former Putnam county citizen, A. R. Alison, at his home in Paola, Kansas on February 15. He was born and reared in Kentucky, but came to Putnam County when quite young. From here he enlisted in Company B, 43rd Indiana Infantry and served three years in the army. He also served 10 months of that time in a Confederate prison [at Tyler, TX]
