Elizabeth "Betty" Carmichael, 85, of Shreve, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at the Wayne County Care Center.

Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shreve United Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call Saturday from 6-9 p.m. at the church. Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Shreve Emergency Medical Service, 150 W. McConkey St., Shreve 44676.

She was born June 15, 1922, in West Alexander, Pa. to Clyde and Mima (Creighton) Frye and married Floyd Carmichael on Oct. 10, 1941. He died Nov. 15, 1983.

She was a member of Shreve United Methodist Church.

She had been employed at Diamonite Products and the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center. Along with her husband, she owned the Shreve Inn. She also owned Betty's Beauty Shop for 22 years, which she had purchased from Zoanne Carmichael. She then opened Betty's Boutique, where she had exercise equipment and cosmetics and moved the business into her home in 1992.

She was a member of the Fireman's Auxiliary, the Shreve Business Association since 1950, the County Line Historical Society of Wayne and Homes County, the Shreve Tree Commission and Shreve Take Charge. She served on the Shreve Village Council for more than 20 years.

Surviving are three children, Ruth (Fred) Flinner of Clearwater, Fla., Jim (Carolyn) Carmichael and Jane Carmichael, both of Wooster; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Carmichael of Wooster; 10 grandchildren, Aaron (Joanne) Flinner, Michael Flinner, both of Clearwater, Fla., Susan (Scott) Widdows of Palm Harbor, Fla., Deb (John) Crump of Ann Harbor, Mich., Keely (Rod) Zemrock of Wooster, Scott Carmichael of Big Prairie, Shellee (Denny) Kaylor of Ashland, and Shannon Carmichael of Banner Elk, N.C.; 21 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a brother, Bob (Anna Mae) Frye of West Alexander, Pa.; and a sister-in-law, Betty (Earl) Emler of Wooster.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents and husband by two sons, Blaine and Larry; a brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Vange Frye; and a daughter-in-law, Zoanne Carmichael.
