Obituary, Thursday, 23 Jul 1914, "The Elyria Democrat" (Elyria, Lorain Co., OH)

Death of Mrs Eliza Baker

At the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robt. Harrison, on Wednesday evening at nine o'clock, occurred the death of Mrs Eliza Baker, a widow of the late Henry Baker. Mrs Baker had been out of health for the past three years and re-cently sustained a paralytic stroke. She passed peacefully away with her daughters about her.

The deceased spent all her life in Lorain county, having been born in Brownhelm, April 30th, 1844, being a member of one of the pioneer families of that township. She was
married to Henry Baker when she was seventeen years of age. For thirty-six years the family resided in that township and then moved to the Abbe road near Elyria, where they lived until the death of Mr Baker, twelve years ago. The deceased united early with the Evangelical church, of which she was a faithful member. She is mourned as a devoted mother by a family of four daughters and one son. The daughters are Mrs John Schmittgen. Mrs Esther Hammer, Mrs R. Harrison, of Elyria and Mrs F. W. Boehm. of Toledo, and the son, Fred Baker, of Toledo. A son, Charles, died eleven years ago. A sister, Mrs L. Brown of Brownhelm, also survives.

The funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock, Eastern time, from the Harrison home, 1108 Lake Avenue. Rev N. Lehmann, of Wren, former pastor of St. Paul's church, and Rev G. W. Krause, the present pastor, will officiate.
