He was the Chief of the Obyn Department at Burdette Tomlin Hospital until his disabilty retirement in 1986 and had been in private practice in both Cape May and Philadelphia. He was the vice-president of the hospital's medical staff in 1985 and 1986.
A Navy veteran, Dr. Macatee served as a medical officer from 1962 to 1965.
He was a member of the Philadelphia and Cape May Medical Societies, a Fellow of American Fertility and a Fellow of the International Association of Gynecological Laparoscopists.
Born in Havertown, Pa., Dr. Macatee moved to Cape May in 1975 and opened his practice there.
Surviving are his wife, Marie; two sons, Timothy of Lincoln, Neb. and Stephen of Seattle, Wash.; three daughters, Ann Marie Camp of Green Creek, Susan Dickey of Norfolk, Va. and Christine Conley of South Dennis; and two granddaughters.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be said noon Wednesday at Our Lady of the Angels Roman Catholic Church in Cape May Court House, where friends may call two hours prior. Burial will be in Cape May Veterans Cemetery.
