Mrs. Barnette was born in the Pinson Community, daughter of the late Homer J. and Nellie Irene Sauls Kaltreider, and received her education there graduating from the former Pinson High School. Most of her life has been spent in Jackson. She was a member of the West Jackson Baptist Church and the Virginia Hudson B.F.T. Sunday School Class.
She was married to the late James R. Barnette, who preceded her in death in 1994, and also preceded by a son, James H. Barnette in October 2008.
She is survived by her children, Nellie B. Paris and husband Dr. H. Wade Paris of Harrisonville, Missouri, Helen B. Fowler and husband Larry of Jackson, Billy Ray Barnette and wife Gay of Jackson and John Barnette and wife Kathy of Moscow, Tennessee; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren; a sister, Hazel McClintock of Arnold, Missouri; a brother - in law William Barnette and wife Evelyn of Jackson.
